The LMT successfully participated in the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) dress rehearsal observations, demonstrating that the telescope and its instrumentation are ready to participate in the upcoming 2025 EHT observing campaign.
On January 21st 2025, the LMT successfully participated in the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) dress rehearsal observations. In this occasion, the synchronized observations involved another two stations of the array, the Greenland Telescope (GLT) and the Northern Extended Millimeter Array (NOEMA) located on the French Alps. The confirmed detection of fringes between the data collected by the LMT and NOEMA demonstrates that the observatories, and their instrumentation, are operational and ready to participate in the next EHT observing campaign, which will take place in April 2025.
