May 2017 – A new hexapod and secondary reflector surface (M2) has been installed at the LMT.

A new hexapod (by Symétrie) and a secondary reflector surface (by Media Lario Technologies) have been installed and successfully tested at the LMT. This new secondary reflector has the required accuracy to enable astronomical observations with the entire 50 meter primary surface. Metrology and control tests were performed by members of INAOE’s Aspheric Surfaces Laboratory, researchers from UMass and MERLAB, and delegates from Media Lario Technologies and Symétrie.
