On April 10th 2019, the LMT and the EHT Collaboration presented the first image of the shadow of a super-massive black hole (M87*).

The LMT participates in the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), an international collaboration aiming to image the shadow of super-massive black holes and study the effects of gravity around these extreme environments by creating a virtual Earth-sized telescope. On April 10th 2019, the EHT Collaboration presented the first image of the shadow of a super-massive black hole (M87*) in multiple simultaneous press conferences around the world, and its first results in six refereed papers.
